Hair Botox: the ideal treatment to repair damaged hair!
Like its skin counterpart, hair botox is a rejuvenating treatment that boosts and brightens hair. But this time, no needles or scalpels! Here's everything you need to know about this youthful treatment.
Hair botox treatment: why this name?
Let's be honest, the term "hair botox" is a bit of a misnomer. And for good reason, there is no need for an injection and medical intervention, a simple appointment at the hair salon is enough.
In fact, it is mainly a marketing term since "botox" has more or less become synonymous with "rejuvenation". A marketing term certainly, but not misleading for all that, the results of a hair botox treatment are indeed quite spectacular.
Hair Botox Treatment: For Who?
Hair botox treatment is used to smooth and brighten the hair, but also to nourish and hydrate the hair fiber.
It is therefore very useful in case of dry and damaged hair, in particular due to repeated coloring, straightening and bleaching. It also helps protect against the harmful effects of chlorine and salt (hello surfers and swimmers) and protects the hair fiber from the attacks of the sun (hello crayfish).
Hair botox treatment: what does it consist of?
Hair botox treatment mainly consists of keratin and hyaluronic acid.
For the record, you should know that hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our body and has moisturizing properties. It retains up to 1000 times its volume in water! Yes, but over time, its production decreases, and the hair suffers (link to the article "Changes in the nature of hair over time") ! The application of hyaluronic acid via a hair botox treatment then makes it possible to fill this deficit, to enhance the shine of the hair, to moisturize it, to nourish it, to repair it, to plump it, in short: to rejuvenate it!
Keratin, for its part, coats the hair fiber and protects it from external aggressions.
Hair Botox Treatment: How Does the Session Work?
Go to a hair salon (be careful, not all of them offer botox treatments)!
It all starts with a moisturizing shampoo, so as not to catch your hair off guard, to separate the scales and purify the hair fiber. The hairdresser then coats the hair, strand by strand, with a mixture composed of keratin, hyaluronic acid and amino acids. The hair is then exposed to heat (cap, heating helmet) in order to optimize the action and penetration of the treatment.
Total duration of the session: between two and three hours.
Hair botox treatment: how effective is it?
The results are visible immediately and last between 7 and 8 weeks on average. But be careful, it is advisable to respect a break of three months between two sessions because the hair botox treatment can contain certain harmful agents.
