Lifeless hair: what to do about tired hair?
Tired and devitalized, is your hair seriously suffering? Don't panic, here's how to give it some pep.
How do I know if my hair is tired and devitalized?
Hair that is out of order can be seen at a glance: it is dull and lacks shine, it is less elastic, less dense and flat. It can also be particularly split.
If, despite everything, doubt persists, then we carefully observe the lost hair. When white bulbs are present on one of the ends, it means that they have broken, and therefore that they were tired.
Why is my hair tired and devitalized?
To combat fatigue, it is important to know its origin:
. Hair fatigue can be linked to an overly aggressive hair routine: excessive use of heating appliances, overuse of coloring, blow-drying, perms and extensions, or even brushing too vigorously.
The feeling of being down can also be rooted in the body: general fatigue and stress, metabolic disorders, pregnancy, childbirth, post-operative symptoms.
. Finally, external factors are sometimes the cause of devitalized hair: pollution, change of season, etc.
Note that fine hair is more prone to fatigue than thick hair.
How can I give my tired, lifeless hair a boost?
It is possible to give your hair a real makeover, provided you follow the advice below:
- Improve your diet
We focus on foods rich in omega 3, such as oily fish, nuts and rapeseed oil, in vitamin B, such as almonds, cereals and dairy products, in zinc, like eggs, lentils and seafood, in iron, like dried fruits, and in vitamins of all kinds, like all fruits and vegetables in general. We also think about drinking plenty of water. The goal of this diet? To optimize the cellular renewal of the hair fiber. We can also opt for a cure and food supplements to be sure to store a maximum of vitamins and trace elements.
- Detoxify your scalp
Every day, gently brush your damp hair to remove dust and polluting particles. Twice a month, scrub your scalp on wet hair with grains of salt, sugar or clay powder to remove anything that clings. Combined with purifying essential oils such as lavender, it stimulates circulation. Then, to always stimulate circulation, remember to massage your scalp before shampooing .
- Use a suitable shampoo and conditioner
We prefer products dedicated to devitalized hair, which include natural restorative active ingredients (plant hyaluronic acid, wheat microproteins, natural essential oils) and moisturizers (keratin). For more shine, wash your hair with lukewarm or cold water.
- Apply masks
Once a week, apply a silicone-free mask made with natural ingredients. It can be lemon, which provides shine and tone, vanilla, which gives softness, avocado, which moisturizes, jojoba, which regenerates and softens, or olive oil. The idea is to nourish and moisturize the hair fiber so that it is more supple and stronger, and to make it easier to detangle the hair.
- Take a break from heating appliances and harsh treatments
Hair coloring, curling irons, straighteners… we put all that aside. As for drying, we forget the hair dryer and we air dry.
- Apply a serum
We apply a serum for devitalized hair to dry hair or after treatments. These are leave-in products. Objective: to moisturize the hair and scalp, and protect the hair fiber from aggressions. The key is shiny and dense hair.
- Choose a suitable hairstyle for the duration of the revitalization
Above all, don't tie your hair up, and cut the ends every two or three months.
