First of all, let's clarify that the positive effects of rice water on hair are not yet scientifically proven. But most studies believe that they are more than likely. In any case, using rice water is safe for hair and does not cause any side effects. So why not try it and make up your own mind? Nothing to lose, everything to gain!
Rice water treatment: what are the benefits for hair?
They are multiple. Naturally loaded with starch, rice water shines the hair fiber, makes the hair smoother, shinier , and limits the appearance of frizz. How? By tightening the cuticles and scales of the hair.
In addition, it helps to strengthen brittle hair and repair damaged hair. It must be said that it is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. And in a way, who says "less brittle hair" also says "hair that grows faster", it's logical, what else?
Finally, rice water strengthens the scalp, helping to reduce the appearance of dandruff.
Rice water treatment: how to apply it to hair?
Roughly speaking, a rice water treatment has the same effects as a silicone-based treatment. Except that it is a 100% natural treatment that does not damage the hair !
Rice water can be used as a rinse oil after shampooing. In this case, you must of course finish by rinsing with clear water.
It can also be used weekly as a conditioner or mask. Wet your hair with lukewarm water, pour in the rice water, massage the scalp, leave for twenty minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water.
It is also possible to perform a scalp treatment based on rice water. It is applied once a week to the entire scalp, section by section, using a brush. Leave on for 30 minutes/1 hour, rinse, and follow with a classic shampoo.
Rice water treatment: how to prepare it?
To collect rice water, two solutions:
. Collect the rice rinsing water: do not cook the rice, but leave it to soak for a quarter of an hour before collecting the rinsing water.
. Recover the rice cooking water: this is clearly the preferred solution since the water is then richer in nutrients and can truly act as a mask. For greater effectiveness, let the rice water ferment for two days at room temperature so that it is full of antioxidants.
